pbm2cnt is a utility program for the generation of 2d polygon contours from a 2d portable bitmap (PBM) file. It writes these contours in the CNT file formats, which is used by the NUAGES 3d reconstruction package.

There is a ready-to-use executable of pbm2cnt already built for SUNOS5 (SOLARIS) users, and the source code contained in the pbm2cnt.tgz TARed and GZIPed file.

pbm2cnt lets you process bitmap files to get the contour they describe. It may be part of an 3D reconstrution with a set of sliced CT images which are previously B/W dithered, perhaps with CT2PGM a CT image b/w dithering tool.

• Definition of a z-coordinate for 3d image reconstruction.
• Optional verbose output for contour statistics.
• Optional use of standard in-/output for pipelining.
• Optional ignoring of contour holes.
